I honestly can't believe that it's time to email again. There is no way it's p-day. The weeks in the mission go by so fast. It blows my mind to think that we are starting week 4 of the transfer. What?
Thanks for the orange bike. Everyone knows me as the Sister with the orange bike. I was surprised when it showed up, expecting it to be the black one and it was bright orange.. but I LOVE IT! :) haha No one will EVER hit me.
This week was definitely interesting. I feel like I should give it a name….
Tuesday our appointment with the F**** G**** family, that was scheduled for baptism the 7th, fell through. DANG. Seems to happen a lot in missionary life. Satan is evil. :/ They had so much desire and they wouldn't answer their phones. We did talk to the dad though about breaking the Law of Chastity and he said that he understood and that he talked to his girlfriend about it. She knows that she is not able to be baptized until they get married. Ok. Well.... what are you waiting for? We are here to help! ;)
Wednesday... it was an interesting day. I woke up very, very, very sick. :( I felt so bad for Sister Lightheart. I was determined to work through the pain and to do as much as the Lord would help me. I get really frustrated because I want to be here. I want to work as hard as I can. But I just physically can not. Hopefully things get figured out soon.. :)
We visited with a new convert named M****. She reminds me exactly of Grandma Young. It's weird that I am meeting all these Latinos that remind me of my grandparents... haha i just laughed. She was so happy that we came to see her!
We also taught the lessons to the little 8 year old in our ward that the Bishop asked us to teach. We taught her the last lesson and she is getting baptized Sunday. She doesn't count as our baptism though because her mom is a member... but we did teach her for a couple weeks. I count her as mine. She is adorable and I LOVE HER! I gave her a CTR ring and she was sooooo excited. She made us take pictures because we have something that matches. V******* is adorable. She prayed that we would bring a cake to her baptism... so it looks like Sister Lightheart and I have a project.
We visited V***** and G****. They are wonderful. V***** didn't realize that when he is baptized he becomes a "Mormon". I guess G**** explained that to him because he had lots of questions when we arrived. He said the prayer for us and he got emotional. The Spirit was so strong. It was amazing. I love when our investigators pray! :)
We went harvesting Wednesday and it was a little tough. The first person we talked to yelled at us and told us to quit wasting our time. I wasn't quite sure what was going on. I still don't understand Spanish that well when people are talking really fast and loud. I was watching the facial expressions of Sister Lightheart and I could tell that something was going on. We eventually just walked away while he was still yelling at us. There was nothing else to do. It was a rough beginning, but God is merciful and always will make us feel better. We knocked on a door and they let us in. Their daughter is a member but she is not active. They said that they have thought about coming to the church. We ended up talking to them for a while and it was a great conversation. We invited them to church.. so hopefully they come! :) The next door we knocked on, they let us in as well. We invited them to be baptized if they gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. The wife accepted and the husband told us that he was inactive and has thought about coming back. OK, WHAT? What are the odds that you would run into that situation 2 doors in a row. MIRACLE. We will be visiting with them and teaching them more about the gospel! :) YAY!
Thursday I tried the best Latin treat topollillos. Its frozen fruit juice in a plastic bag and you eat it like a popsicle. :) I tried the coconut and it was amazing. So good! :)
We taught P**** and HE ACCEPTED BAPTISM. He didn't come to church this Sunday so we had to change the date, but he actually has a sincere desire to change and to be baptized. He is so wonderful! I can't believe the change that we have seen in him just in the last few weeks. The gospel is amazing and it seriously blesses lives. :) He told us that he feels like he has the ghost of his past on his back and he just wants to get rid of that. We talked about repentance and then about baptism and how he can be washed clean of all those sins. He loved it! Cross your fingers he comes to church so we don't have to drop talk him. :(
Friday we taught E****** about the Plan of Salvation and he loved it. It's so funny because he doesn't say much. He just sits there and nods his head. We were looking through the area book under "potential investigators" and found that E****** has been taught by 2 other sets of missionaries. We just laughed and laughed... we are determined that this is the last set to teach him before he gets baptized. We are hoping and praying for a miracle. If he doesn't come to church this next Sunday we have to drop talk him too! :(
We taught D**** about the Restoration and she loved it. She is soooooo prepared. She loves when we come over too. She has the goal set already to go to the temple! :) We love when our investigators have that goal! MIRACLES! :)
We met a shirtless man that asked me to be his girlfriend.. haha that was interesting. Sadly, I had to decline.
Rodrigo, a recent convert, has the goal of the temple in one year and he really wants the Priesthood. He asked me if I could go to the temple with him but.. I am not sure if I am allowed to.. because I technically didn't teach him before he was baptized. I missed it by a week. :( Hopefully, I get to go. That would be AWESOME! :)
Saturday we found out a lot of things about V***** from G****. He has been hiding a lot of things from us and is definitely not ready for baptism but we are working with them and I have faith that things will change and they will both be ready to enter the water! :) They love reading the Book of Mormon and Gisel asked us for a Doctrine and Covenants.. WHAT INVESTIGATOR ASKS FOR THAT? ONLY THE BEST!!! :) We love them.
We had a drop talk with M****** because she hasn't been coming to church and we have been teaching her for over a month. She cried and I wanted to cry. Hopefully she decides to come or the missionaries contact her again a little later when she has more desire.
We had dinner at a Sister in the ward's house and it was right on the beach. I could see where the cruise ships were. She fed us so much. Sister Lighheart and I were freaking out because she just kept putting more food on our plates. So.. we just put the food in a napkin and slid it into our bag when she wasn't looking. I was dying. We laughed about that one too.. good memories are made with experiences like that. Missionary Probs….
Sunday we had 6 investigators at church. IT WAS AWESOME! We sat by G**** and V*****. V***** ended up leaving after the Sacrament was passed. He told us to give him a month and he will be ready. :/ G**** loves church though and she always gets so dressed up for it. Its so cute! :) I love her!
T*****, J******, and M****** (F**** G**** Family) all came to Sacrament too.. and we were able to set up an appointment to go see them last night! :) We went to their house and talked to them about how they felt about baptism and if they were still interested. J***, the dad, explained to the kids why the mom won't be getting baptized the same day. The kids laughed and said, "Just get married!" It was funny. The kids want to get baptized so badly.. so they are for sure set for this Sunday. We have all of our teaching appointments set so we can finish teaching them and prepare them! :) I gave them CTR rings too and they loved them. They thought they were the coolest things. They are amazing.
D**** also is getting baptized Sunday. She is really excited and so is her family. They have been waiting for this day for years.
It is such a good feeling when you know what you are doing is making others happy and changing their lives. it's amazing. Missionary work is one of a kind. At times its really hard it but other times it is the best thing in the world and you wouldn't want to be anywhere else. :) I have a testimony of this church. It is the only truth on the earth, and it will never change. It is such a tremendous blessing in my life, and I have been able to see with my own eyes the change that it can have in other's lives. It is such a beautiful gift that we have been given. We are so blessed!
I love you all and am looking forward to hearing from you soon! :)
Hugs and kisses sent your way from Florida!
Con Amor-
Hermana Snow
